The Soul of Cairo: A Glimpse of the City - روح القاهرة: لمحة من المدينة

In Cairo, a city that has witnessed countless historical events across different eras, we can see several architectural styles existing side by side, from Mamluk and Ottoman buildings to European-inspired architecture and the modern buildings that are now more widespread. As a city with an immense historical legacy, Cairo reflects both Egypt’s rich past and its contemporary identity in a way that no other city can quite match. It is home to the palaces of princes and sultans, as well as ancient mosques and churches. Here, the richness of tradition meets the constant pursuit of modernity. All of this fuels our imagination and makes Cairo a source of fascination for tourists from all over the world.

Amid the chaos of its traffic and the maze of its streets and narrow alleyways, Cairo holds countless stories waiting to be discovered.

Driven by my curiosity and fascination with Cairo, which find expression in my endless drawings of the city, I have spent years observing it, watching the interactions that unfold in its streets and the people who walk along its paths. Through this ongoing exploration, I seek to unravel a small part of Cairo’s spirit without attempting to fully reveal its mysteries. Instead, I simply observe, enjoy, draw, and sometimes write about the everyday life of this vast and inspiring city.
